Position description
The Department of Linguistics (http://ling.ucsd.edu) within the
School of Social Sciences at the University of California, San
Diego invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at
the level of Assistant Professor, with an expected start date of
July 1, 2025. We are looking for candidates with specializations in
any of the following areas, or any combination thereof:
computational linguistics (particularly large language models),
language variation and change, and sociolinguistics.
The selected candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and
graduate level courses, as well as mentor students. They will
conduct and publish research and participate in professional
activities, such as attending and presenting at conferences and
pursuing research funding. They are also expected to participate in
department and university service as academic members of the campus
community.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
ABD or PhD in Linguistics or related field with specialization in
sociolinguistics, computational linguistics, and/or language
variation and change.
