SUMMARYAs the Vice President of Information Technology at a $2B
healthcare organization, you will be responsible for leading the
client's technology operations and infrastructure, with a strong
emphasis on cybersecurity, data management, innovation and the
day-to-day IT responsibilities to support the business. Your role
will be to drive the hospital's digital transformation, ensure the
security and reliability of critical systems, and collaborate with
hospital leadership to align IT initiatives with overall
organizational goals. You will also serve as the senior leader of a
talented IT team, fostering a culture of professional growth,
collaboration, and leadership development within the department.KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the development and lead the execution of the
hospital's IT strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational
goals and priorities.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the health system leadership and
clinical executives, to understand business needs and provide
technology-driven solutions that enhance operational efficiency and
patient care.
- Create a culture of Operational Excellence, ensuring
adaptability and responsiveness of the IT Team and the services
provided to support the evolving healthcare landscape.
- Introduce industry best practices to drive digital innovation
to improve patient experience, operational efficiencies, and
business continuity.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with health system
leadership, partners, vendors, and stakeholders to enhance the
hospital's technology ecosystem.
- Manage and maintain health system information technology
policies and procedures, focused on ensuring practice is aligned
with policy.Cybersecurity & Risk Management
- Oversee the development and implementation of a robust
cybersecurity strategy to create safeguards to protect sensitive
healthcare data, patient information, and hospital systems from
evolving threats.
- Conduct cybersecurity audits, risk assessments and
vulnerability testing to identify potential threats and identify
strategies for continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA,
HITECH) and industry best practices, continually assessing and
managing risk.
- Lead the creation of incident response plans and disaster
recovery strategies to ensure business continuity and mitigate
potential cyber risks.
- Foster a culture of security awareness within the hospital,
providing educational materials to employees, contract staff,
medical staff and business partners to safeguard against potential
breaches.
- Responsible for cyber security key performance indicators,
market analysis and recommendations for improvement to the health
system.Mentorship, Recruitment & Employee Development
- Build and nurture a high-performing onsite and global IT team,
emphasizing the importance of collaboration, innovation, and
personal development.
- Mentor and develop IT staff at all levels, providing
opportunities for professional growth, skill-building, and
leadership training.
- Create an inclusive and supportive work environment that
encourages team members to share ideas, take initiative, and
collaborate across departments.
- Identify and address talent gaps, leading recruiting efforts,
onboarding, and retention of top IT professionals.Collaboration &
Cross-Functional Engagement
- Serve as a strategic partner to health system leadership,
understanding the clinical, operational, and financial needs of the
organization and aligning IT initiatives accordingly.
- Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and operational
teams to implement technology solutions that improve care delivery,
operational efficiency, and overall patient outcomes.
- Act as a bridge between the IT department and health system
leadership to ensure clear communication and the successful
implementation of technology projects.
- Champion the integration and introduction of new technologies
that enhance the operational capabilities of the business and that
are aligned to the strategic objectives.
- Manage third-party IT vendors providing software, hardware, and
professional services to the health system including negotiating
favorable terms, pricing, and service
levels.QUALIFICATIONSEducationBachelor's degree in computer
science, information systems, or other technology-related field, or
an equivalent combination of education and technology
experience.MBA preferredSystems Architecture & Infrastructure:
Proficiency in designing, optimizing, and maintaining large-scale
IT infrastructure, including data centers, networks, and
cloud-based solutions.Cybersecurity Solutions: Strong technical
knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, endpoint
security, encryption, and vulnerability management to safeguard
health systems against cyber threats.Data Management & Analytics:
Expertise in managing healthcare data, implementing data governance
policies, and leveraging analytics tools to improve operational and
clinical decision-making.EMR Systems: In-depth knowledge of
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, driving integration and
optimizing their use across healthcare ecosystem.Cloud Computing &
Virtualization: Experience with cloud technologies, including cloud
migrations, cloud security, and managing hybrid or multi-cloud
environments.Technology Integration: Expertise in integrating
disparate healthcare technologies, ensuring seamless functionality
between clinical, administrative, and IT systems.Disaster Recovery
& Business Continuity: Solid understanding of business continuity
planning, disaster recovery frameworks, and the ability to execute
them under pressure to protect patient data and hospital
operations.Compliance & Regulatory Standards: Familiarity with
healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA, HITECH, and FDA guidelines,
ensuring that IT systems meet required security and privacy
standards.Enterprise Program Management: Proficiency leading a
program management organization to drive delivery of high quality
products, services and outcomes.Leadership: 7+ years' experience in
managing large and diverse technology teams. Excellent
communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Skilled at
conflict resolution and conducting crucial conversations. Possesses
executive presence.WORK LOCATIONThis is a Whittier, CA-based role.
A remote work arrangement is not available for this
role.TRAVELFrequent, local travel to various hospital locations in
the LA basin area. Some air travel for Altera meetings is expected,
but minimal.Salary Range: $250,000 - $275,000 USDAltera is an Equal
